Samir Mitra is the founder and CEO of Reya.ai, formerly Reya Health Inc.
He has over 8 years of real-world experience in healthcare, creating data-first and AI-first application platforms for lifestyle, wellness, longevity centers and specialized clinics like Diabetes, Cardiology and Nephrology.
He was a member of the original Javasoft team at Sun Microsystems, which created a computer programming language and application platform that transformed the internet. In 1999, he created the Java application platform for mobile phones (J2ME), much before the iPhone was launched in 2007, and today is still used by Android developers—the largest mobile app developer community in the world.
His entrepreneurial journey started as an entrepreneur-in-residence at Sequoia Capital, advised several VC firms, and co-founded two successful startups: Cast Iron Systems (sold to IBM) and Prism Circuits (sold to MoSys Inc). He holds several patents in semiconductors, networking, and digital healthcare.
To seek a larger societal impact of technology, he became a technology advisor to the Prime Minister of India under Dr. Manmohan Singh, Chief Innovation Advisor to India’s Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, and a startup advisor to India’s Planning Commission. His successful work in technology initiatives was showcased together with Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon at the UN Assembly in Geneva.
